Karen Clark & Company Inc.
Karen Clark & Company (KCC) develops climate-conditioned catastrophe models — hurricane, severe convective and winter storm, wildfire, flood and earthquake — delivered through its RiskInsight platform across 50-plus countries. The models simulate event sets probabilistically to produce exposure, damage and insured-loss estimates, including exceedance-probability curves, for insurers, reinsurers and ILS investors; model components are disclosed to clients for inspection within the platform. Founded by a pioneer of catastrophe modelling, it positions client-side openness of assumptions as a differentiator in a field of largely proprietary models.
Vendor methodology
Public transparency, not model quality iThe Transparency Score (0–3) estimates public methodological transparency: the degree to which the vendor's analytical approach to modeling climate and nature risk can be assessed from publicly available sources. It is explicitly not a measure of vendor quality or accuracy.
Product-level: public materials indicate risk scope and outputs, but little detail on modeling approach.
Product-level: a public product page conveys the tool's scope, covered risk types and outputs, but no methodology, data or model documentation is publicly available.
